How it works

Three steps to free Pro

01 · KIT

Get a receiver

About £40–£80 all in:

  • A Raspberry Pi (3, 4 or 5), or any spare Linux PC
  • An RTL-SDR USB dongle made for 1090 MHz
  • A 1090 MHz antenna, as high as you can: loft or outdoors
02 · SETUP

Feed adsb.lol

The easiest route is the free adsb.im image: flash it to an SD card, boot, and tick adsb.lol in the setup page.

Already feeding elsewhere? Add adsb.lol alongside using the adsb.lol guide.

03 · CLAIM

Verify and go Pro

Once your receiver has been feeding for 24 hours, verify it below. Pro switches on instantly for 30 days.

Re-verify once a month while you're still feeding to keep it.

Verify your receiver

Do this on the same internet connection as your receiver (e.g. your home Wi-Fi, not mobile data).

  1. Sign in to Skyscope (or create a free account).
  2. Open api.adsb.lol/0/me. It shows your receiver.
  3. Select all the text on that page (Ctrl+A / Cmd+A), copy it, and paste it below.

Questions

Why do you give Pro away to feeders?

Skyscope's live data comes from volunteers' receivers. More receivers means fewer gaps and more aircraft for everyone, especially low-level traffic like helicopters and light aircraft.

What happens if my receiver goes offline?

Nothing straight away. Pro lasts 30 days from each verification. If you can't re-verify because your receiver has stopped, Pro simply ends. No charges, nothing to cancel.

Can one receiver cover several accounts?

No. Each receiver links to one Skyscope account.

Is my data shared?

We store your receiver's ID, its position rate and uptime, nothing else. Your receiver's location isn't stored.
